I Joined a Year Ago!

It was 1 year ago today that I decided to go and try my hand at bowls, my parents play where they live and my goal was just to learn how to do it so I could go and beat my dad haha! But I got hooked!! Its the most addictive game!
This club and the amazing people here, made me feel so welcome! I had lots of help and support and still do!!” Whether you want to just play for the fun, social side (we do have lots of laughs) or to do the competing as well, you’ll be made to feel very welcome at Holsworthy bowling club!

RNLI – Charity Challenge 2024

Holsworthy Bowling Club Charity Challenge
Held on Saturday 3 August
Raises £575 for the RNLI.
Twelve teams entered this year’s Charity Bowls Challenge and raised £575 for the RNLI which is celebrating its 200th Anniversary this year. Organised by HBC Assistant Teasurer Sue Worthington, (who is also Treasurer of the RNLI fundraising Team in Holsworthy) the event was supported by generous donations of raffle prizes from local businesses.
Starting earlier than in past years each team played four seperate matches with the winner decided by the team who obtained the most shots overall. Each team was supported throughout by a mentor from HBC. After the first match there was a break for refreshments with another match before lunch. Catering was provided by the Market cafe and was much appreciated by all the players and HBC support team.
The winners were Team ‘Clueless’; Chris & Mary Osbourne and Ken Lau who achieved a score of 28. Interestingly they were 4th at the half way stage and then dropped to 5th after round 3. However by scoring 10 in the last match they just moved into the winning slot. Runners up were ‘The Twiners’ Barry Parrish, Andrew Chidley and Alan Harris.
At the prize giving Sue Worthington (Assistant Treasurer HBC and Treasurer RNLI Holsworthy) and Rose Chetwynd (HBC President) presented the winners with a RNLI 200 teddy bear and a cash prize and the runners up a cash prize.
All enjoyed a day of fun competition, good camaraderie and the opportunity to catch up with other friends whilst helping raise funds for the RNLI in its 200th year.
